What you may not have mapped is that Coligny Plaza has quietly organized itself into a seven-night-a-week entertainment schedule this summer, one you can walk to in flip-flops without ever starting your car.
That is the shift worth paying attention to. Forest Beach's evening rhythm is no longer improvised. It has a lineup, a season, and a curtain time.
The thesis, plainly
For years, "going out" from a Forest Beach address meant either a table at one of the same four restaurants or a drive to Shelter Cove for HarbourFest. In 2026, the south end has enough recurring, dated, walkable programming that a resident can build a genuine weekly routine inside a quarter-mile radius. The Coligny Plaza Center Stage runs a different act every night of the week, the Coligny Theater has doubled its programming with a resident theater company, and a new bar has opened in what was, until recently, a Rock Fish shell.

Coligny Plaza Center Stage: the weeknight schedule
Center Stage runs live entertainment from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. all summer, with a different act assigned to each night of the week. If you have never bothered to learn the rotation, this is the useful part.

Coligny Theater has become something new
The Coligny Theater at 1 North Forest Beach Drive is not the same room it was five years ago. It still runs its independent-film schedule, but in 2026 the theater has evolved into a hub for the Sea Glass Stage Company, meaning live theater now shares the calendar with the arthouse film program.
That matters for two reasons. First, the room seats only a couple of hundred, which means Sea Glass stage productions almost always sell out about a week in advance, so a Saturday-night walk-up is no longer a safe assumption. Second, the film-and-dinner combo that used to require driving to the mid-island multiplex now happens in a single block: dinner upstairs at Big Bamboo, then down to the theater without moving your car.

Useful when someone wants a burger and someone else wants to be near the sand at sunset.
- Big Bamboo Cafe, upstairs in the plaza. The pairing with Coligny Theater makes this the default for a live-show night. Live music most evenings.
- Frosty Frog Cafe, plaza-side. Frozen drinks, casual seating, family-tolerant volume. The room your out-of-town guests will ask for by name.
- FISH Casual Coastal Seafood, in the plaza. Sit-down seafood without the wait times you get at the dockside places on the north end.
- The Porch Southern Kitchen & Bar at Beach House, at the north end of Forest Beach. Southern comfort format with ocean views, running from crab cake benedicts at breakfast through fresh-catch dinner specials. A quarter-mile walk up the beach from Coligny if the tide is right.
- Sweet Al's on the Beach, also at Beach House. Coffee, breakfast and grab-and-go beach food, open daily 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., which is the morning-side of the same walkable radius.
The Tiki Hut at Beach House is worth its own line. It was voted a top ten Best Beach Bar in USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, which is the sort of accolade that means the deck is full at sunset in July. Locals go on weeknights before 6 or accept the crowd.
The bigger nights to circle
A few dates rise above the weekly rhythm. If you keep a paper calendar, these are the ones worth writing in.
July 4, 2026. Two races start the day within walking distance of a Forest Beach address. The Hilton Head Firecracker 5K celebrates its 37th year on July 4, 2026, and remains the largest and oldest race in Beaufort County. A separate USA 5K runs at Coligny Beach the same morning. Whether you run or not, expect road closures around Pope Avenue and plan errands for the afternoon.
Tuesday nights, all summer. HarbourFest at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina is a weekly celebration featuring live music, arts and crafts, kids' activities and Tuesday night fireworks. This is off-peninsula, roughly a fifteen-minute drive north, but the fireworks are visible from parts of the north Forest Beach beachfront if the sky is clear.

One piece of friction to plan around
Parking. If you live here, you already avoid the Coligny lots on weekend evenings. What is worth naming: parking at Coligny can be difficult in the summer, and the recommended workaround is the free public parking lot across from the plaza, or arriving by bike. For a 7 p.m. show or a Center Stage act at 6:30, showing up at 6:15 is the difference between a walk-in seat and circling for twenty minutes.
The bike math is the honest answer. Forest Beach is genuinely built for it, and every venue mentioned above has a rack within twenty feet of its door. On a Friday in July, the cyclist wins.
Putting it together
